The Rosenau Family Research Foundation (RFRF) has a proud history of championing research into rare diseases, particularly Krabbe disease and Cystic Fibrosis. We stand with the scientific community in expressing our deep concerns regarding the recent announcement of abrupt cuts to the National Institutes of Health (NIH) indirect cost rates for funded research. Sudden and drastic funding changes threaten to destabilize research infrastructure and jeopardize years of progress in rare disease studies. Recognizing the impact of federal research funding on advancing science and medicine, RFRF advocates for transparency and accountability in the calculation, distribution, and responsible use of funds that support the indirect costs associated with federally funded research efforts. We encourage all parties to work together to ensure that our nation’s leading research efforts are responsibly funded, and that our scientific and medical research is neither stymied, stalled, nor compromised. RFRF will continue to fund research into Krabbe disease and Cystic Fibrosis, and hope that with continued support from the NIH and other organizations, we will find approaches to continue to advance our mission of improving the lives of patients impacted by these diseases.
